Miss Pixie

UPDATE!!! I wanted all potential adopters to read this first. Pixie has come out of her shell and after getting spayed is finally getting to be a kitten! She is so playful, she's been inside for the past few weeks and has just started venturing back outside again but is always back and ready for her spoonful of canned cat food. She's a happy camper, super loving and cuddly...and she loves all our dogs and cats, even the rotten one....and even the ones who aren't wild about HER. Haha! Please read all about her beginnings, but just know she has come so far and she's perfect with the litter box, I am so proud of her! I got the best updated pics I could get, but she doesn't stay still very long!<br/><br/>Miss Pixie showed up shortly after Caspian showed up (now adopted) and for the longest time she was nothing more than a thump as she jumped off the deck the minute she heard my back door opening. Finally she got to where she would watch me from the woods and would allow me to see her, but no way was she going to come NEAR a HUMAN. After a few weeks of that, she finally began staying up on the deck while I would feed everyone else their morning teaspoon (or so) of canned food until one day I slid a bowl across the deck towards and she greedily ate while watching me with one eye sideways! We currently have SEVEN cats besides Miss Pixie, ALL rescues, all spayed and neutered, but they just didn't find new homes so here they ALL are! Pixie with her beautiful short haired coat and ice blue eyes will be the most sought after to be adopted, so I am hoping to find her very own family to love her all her days. We do have another posted as well as "Caspian," (now adopted) "Kita" (at a foster), and "Stache" (now adopted!) so please look at her as well if Pixie is not to your liking. <br/><br/>Miss Pixie is incredibly sweet and she's quite young, in fact, probably not even out of the kitten stage yet, but life has dealt her a hard blow having to live out in the woods and constantly seeking out food. That's why now that she discovered our deck with a bottomless feeder and waterer, as well as comfy places to sleep and hide, she pretty much stays up here all day and night. I can now pick her up and cuddle her and she is perfectly fine with it. I did try putting her inside and she ran back outside before I could even close the door so she's still pretty skittish and will need someone with a lot of patience. <br/><br/>LET ME BE CLEAR, PIXIE IS ***NOT*** FERAL -- IF SHE WERE, I WOULD BE MISSING FINGERS BY NOW. I had someone call her that (never even met her) and it really ticked me off, they clearly do not know the difference between a frightened kitten and a feral cat! On the other hand, Pixie will require a bit of patience as she never got to be a kitten, but instead had to focus on survival and out here in the woods where we live, that's a 24/7 job when you're just a baby. Update! I am now getting her acclimated to inside -- she is getting used to it slowly....and I hope to introduce her to dogs once she feels safer about the inside environment. She does GREAT with other cats though!<br/><br/>I should be able to worm her and treat her with Bravecto for fleas and ticks this go around and she is scheduled to be spayed and get her rabies vax on August 11th. Shes a precious little girl who with just a bit of patience and time, I think will be someones very best friend. I will continue to try to work with getting her inside so we can see how she does with dogs and litter boxes. At this time she gets along well with all the other cats and isnt afraid to eat right out of their bowls with them and amazingly enough most of them are pretty patient with her. But, then almost every one of them was once Pixie scared without a home and with an empty belly, so I like to believe they understand. <br/><br/>If you are interested in Pixie, please send me an email telling me about yourself, your home, your family and why you think Pixie would be perfect for you. Pixie deserves the very best. <br/><br/>ADDITIONAL EXCITING UPDATE! Miss Pixie has been spayed and received her rabies vax. She is also microchipped. She is doing great, almost completely healed up, been inside for over a week and though we leave her door open she's pretty content to stay in her bedroom where she has a bed, food, and water. She's the sweetest, most cuddly, loudest purring kitty I have ever known! She loves other cats and she met one of our dogs -- an older Carpathian Shepherd who is a bit of a playful, spoiled old girl and Miss Pixie did great. She was on her guard, but they touched noses and there was no hissing, clawing, or biting. Very proud of her, these are huge milestones for her! I don't have any small children around, so cannot test her there, but she's so loving and easy going I don't think she would have any trouble with kids who are respectful at all.
