Miss Fortune's Story
Miss Fortune

Miss Fortune arrived on St. Patrick's Day, which feels... intentional.

Because at first glance, you might think her story is about bad luck--a 3-year-old black cat with a tipped ear, some past skin troubles, and a life that clearly didn't come easy. But spend about five minutes with her, and you'll realize the truth:

She's not unlucky. She's unbothered.

Thanks to a kind human stepping in at just the right time, Miss Fortune got the care she needed and has healed up beautifully. Now, under strict (and frankly, very sensible) doctor's orders, she's officially retiring from the outside world and embracing her next chapter as a house cat.

And she's approaching it the same way she approaches everything--with quiet confidence and clear boundaries.

Miss Fortune enjoys human company, but she's not here for chaos or clinginess. She prefers a calm approach, a respectful introduction, and affection on her terms. Think of her less like a "pick me up immediately" cat and more like a cat who says, "Let's get to know each other first." And when you do? It's worth it.

She's observant, independent, and has just enough mystery to keep things interesting. The tipped ear tells part of her story--but it's not the whole story. Not even close.

If you're someone who appreciates a cat with a little depth, a little attitude, and a lot of quiet companionship--Miss Fortune might just be the best luck you've had in a while. 🍀An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $250.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.
Cats and kittens are minimum donation $50.00
