Miracle's Story
MIRACLE was rescued as a kitten from the streets of Egypt with a serious infection of her mouth. Her Egyptian rescuer's veterinarian in Cairo successfully treated kitty. Miracle was made ready to fly to Place For Cats to find a loving home and additional specialized care in NYC. Miracle arrived at JFK Airport on May 10th with two other furry vagabonds rescued from the streets of Egypt (last photo.)

FYI, Egypt is a country that has NO animal protection laws, NO government aid by way of shelters, NO encouragement to spay/neuter, and NO cultural incentive to care for strays. The only help comes from just a handful of Rescuers scattered throughout the country who do the best they can to help the multitude of strays.

Miracle is FeLV/FIV tested negative, current in vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and has a somewhat unusual personality. The severe infection she had on her mouth left her right gum/teeth exposed. As a consequence to this unusual characteristic, she wants to gnaw on things all the time - toys, toys and more toys. The scarring is permanent yet she remains beautiful. In mid 2025, Miracle had the teeth removed on the right side by the wonderful dental team at Animal Medical Center.

On the one hand, Miracle is a character. She is exceptionally smart and wants to play all the time. She was terrified in the foster home the first few days after being in a carrier near to 30 hours before, during & after the flight from Cairo to JFK. However, once she decompressed she adapted to her surroundings quickly and took charge, sometimes batting other kitties who wanted to climb on the foster mom's lap along side her. At the same time, Miracle is a kitty who deeply appreciates affection and will stay on a lap purring very, very loudly for hours without moving. We believe she knows she has been saved from certain death on the streets of Egypt and genuinely appreciates being in a home and stable routine. Or maybe we are projecting. Either way, she is a remarkable little cat with an extraordinarily outgoing personality.

The ideal home for Miracle would be one with an equally energetic, rambunctious, ornery adolescent with whom she can rough-and-tumble all day, and a mommy who will allow her to sleep on a lap and/or on the bed next to her.

While we are eager to meet all prospective adopters, we request to have your application in advance of scheduling a meet-and-greet with our foster home(s). You may download the application here: http://www.placeforcats.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/PFC-Adoption-Application.pdf

When you send in your Application, please include a couple sentences why you feel Miracle will be a good match for your household.

Please note that Petfinder's questionnaire is not to be considered instead of completion of Place For Cats' own Application or a few words why Miracle will fit best into applicant's home.

Please note that Place For Cats' Adoption Contract contains a NO DECLAWING clause and in any case the paw amputation now is illegal in New York State.

Adopters agree to a $175 fee per cat and a home visit.

Thank you for considering to adopt MIRACLE.
