Mindy's Story

Looking for the ultimate companion cat? Meet Mindy! She bonds quickly with her person and likes to hang out. She's a chatty girl. She has many opinions on things and she's not shy about sharing. Mindy is 10 years young and still enjoys catnip toys, bird-watching, and staring at you judgmentally when you're late for breakfast. As a middle-aged cat, Mindy would prefer not to have loud, boisterous children around her disturbing her peace with you. She is protective of her time with her person and doesn't like to share. We'd recommend Mindy be an only pet. Although she's lived with other cats in the past, she was a bully. I know, it's hard to imagine with how sweet and innocent she looks, but she really doesn't like to share.

Mindy should be brushed frequently to avoid tangles in her fur. She is not as good at fur maintenance as she used to be and needs help. This isn't an issue. She loves to be brushed and told just how beautiful she is.

Because Mindy takes thyroid medication, she is considered a special needs cat. However, this couldn't be easier to give her. It's half a tablet morning and evening. It's easy to crush the tablet with the backside of a spoon and then mix it into her wet food meals. She doesn't even notice. Although she is regulated on this medication, she will need yearly bloodwork to make sure she stays regulated.

It can be daunting to adopt a middle-aged special needs cat, but her charisma will more than make up for her age.

Meet the available cats and kittens at the Petco in California MD on Saturdays 10-2 and Sundays 11-3 or at the Meow Dyer Cat Cafe in Leonardtown MD.
Apply online at www.feralcatrescuemd.org.
