Mimi (Mama)'s Story
This sweet, almost 11-year-old girl has been looking for her new family for over a year and is hoping she will find hers soon! Mimi's previous owner was unable to keep her and wanted to make sure she found a new home. Since staying with her foster family, we have learned a lot about her. The best way to describe Mimi is that she is a sensitive cat who is slow to acclimate to change. When we first took Mimi in, we discovered that she is easily stressed or scared and can over-groom when anxious. However, after taking much longer than expected to get used to her environment, she now is showing her true colors and has really come out of her shell. It took months but at adoption events Mimi is finally coming to the front of the cage when people walk by instead of hiding with her face in the back corner. We even are realizing that while she is best as an only cat, once she is comfortable she can tolerate other docile cats that give her space. Thus, we believe she would do best in a quiet home where someone is usually around to keep her company, and is patient with her while she takes all the time she needs to adjust - and also her new person understands she may not show her love and trust until she is fully comfortable. While Mimi may not always want to snuggle, once she gets used to you, she loves people and shows her affection by rubbing up against your legs and making sure she is in the same room as you. That being said, we'd want her new owner to understand that she wants attention but on her own terms, which may mean that sometimes she wants to be pet and sometimes she doesn't (and will let you know!). She enjoys playing with toys, although she is more than happy to just take a nap. She also LOVES looking out the window! Please give Mimi what she is looking for and take her home!

If you'd like to meet this cat or think this cat would be a good match for your family, please complete our adoption questionnaire at http://www.trentoncats.org/adoption-questionnaire/ and let your references know someone will be contacting them soon. All our cats are neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed and flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and microchipped prior to adoption. Thanks for opting to adopt!
