MILKSHAKE's Story

Happy Fall! The calendar might say we are in the "ber" months, but the temperatures are still warm! That means we are still struggling through kitten season. We desperately need to make room to get Moms, kittens and other cats in and fixed before the cold comes. Please consider adopting! And tell your friend to adopt too! We still have lots of kittens and some of our older cats have been here awhile, so there is a cat for everyone!! Remember,
adopting saves TWO cats lives! Adopting one cat will free up a cage so we can help another. Together we can make countless more cats & kittens lives better. Win! Win! The kitties thank you too!

This is Milkshake!
Milkshake is domestic short haired grey tabby, neutered male, up to date on his shots, a little over 2 years old and available for adoption to be an indoor ONLY cat from Griffith Animal Control/Treasured Friends Rescue in Highland Northwest Indiana.

Hi! My name is Milkshake!! I'm at the shelter. I used to be here with my sister Big Mac, but she was adopted! I've been waiting over 365 days for a home...that's over a year!!
Can you guess where we were found?
Yep, I was a kitty living outside around a fast food restaurant eating whatever people left around like chicken nuggets and french fries. Back then I was starving and I would eat whatever I could find!! Luckily some nice people noticed us looking for food in the parking lot. These people started feeding us and realized we needed help because it was getting cold. They got us to the shelter and we were soooo thankful to be inside! Now, I've always got a full tummy and I'm always warm. I was a little more afraid than my sister to be at the shelter, but I'm feeling much more confident everyday! I love pets now and I even start drooling when I get good pets! It's happy and thankful drool! I realized I won the kitty lottery because I didn't have to live outside my whole life
I hoping I get lucky again and I find my forever home! I don't need much, just love, food and some toys because I love to playyyyy! I'm waiting for a person who can be patient with me because I might be a little scared in a new home (or I might not be!). Playing will help me not be so scared.
I know I'm not a kitten anymore but I still have lots of kitten in me. I still have lots of love and affection for someone who will love me forever, but beware of my drool! Lol!! I can't wait until I find my forever home, I promise to bring love and joy into your life! I hope you'll consider me!

I'm waiting, so please make an appointment to come and see me at the shelter! I have my own "room" there and we can visit! if you have another kitty (especially a younger kitty to play with) we should be able to get along (with the proper introduction period). It would probably be best if there was another kitty around so I can build my confidence and be able to play! I can always be adopted with my sister Big Mac, but it's not required. We both want homes together or apart! Oh! Older kids might be okay, but not sure about dogs though.

If you're looking for a sweet & playful kitty give Milkshake the chance he is waiting for. Make an appointment to meet him!
Please call 219-922-1766 and leave a message to meet Milkshake! Also, please fill out an adoption application which can be found online at TreasuredFriendsRescue.org or follow the link from our profile at Petfinder

****************************************
Griffith Animal Control, in partnership with Treasured Friends Animal Rescue believes in giving kitties that others wouldn't normally get a chance at getting a forever home, a chance! Our fosters & volunteers work with shy and/or unsocialized kitties everyday to get them used to being pet and to show them no one will hurt them. However, when they go to a new home, some kitties will require extra time to get used to new surroundings and different people. Please consider giving a kittie who might need a little time to get used to a new home, a chance. This is a serious commitment and it sets the kitties back in their level of trust if they are given up after a few weeks or months. Please, only apply if you are an experienced cat owner and have patience.
Thank you!
