Milkdud >>The Rice Lake Legend & Professional Escape Artist<<'s Story
🍬 Meet Milkdud: The Rice Lake Legend & Professional Escape Artist
If you’re looking for a cat with the survival skills of a wilderness scout and the goofy energy of a cartoon character, look no further. Milkdud is a 2020 survivor of a 50+ cat colony in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. While 95% of her colony sadly succumbed to FIP, Milkdud was the ultimate survivor, never even needing treatment. She is made of tough stuff and even tougher spirit.

🕵️♂️ The "Houdini" of House Cats
Milkdud is a self-appointed trouble maker with a Master’s Degree in Escape Room Tactics.
• Window Screen Specialist: She has successfully popped out window screens twice. If there is a structural weakness in your home security, she will find it.
• The Catio Enthusiast: She absolutely loves the catio, but it needs to be "Milkdud-Proofed" (think: Fort Knox levels of sealing).
• The Outside Paradox: Despite her desire to explore, once she’s out, she’s a nervous wreck. She stays close to home but plays hard-to-get—it once took a full month to live-trap her back inside!

🤡 Personality: From "Survivalist" to "Socialite"
Once you get past her initial "stranger danger" phase, you’ll find a cat who is pure comedy.
• Gym Rat: You can find her running on the cat wheel daily. She’s got fitness goals and she’s meeting them.
• Attention Hog: She demands scratches and your undivided attention. She’s quite the lover, provided your feet stay on the floor—she is not a fan of being held.
• The Roommate: She is a social butterfly with other cats and dogs.

🗝️ The "Maintenance" Manual
Milkdud requires a specific set of rules to keep her (and your sanity) safe:
• Slow Introductions: She needs to start in her own safe room with a very slow rollout to the rest of the house.
• Strictly Indoor: Despite her interest in "property management," she must be an indoor cat.
• Security Audit: All windows and catio enclosures must be sealed tight. She is a tiny explorer who doesn't actually like the great outdoors—she just likes the thrill of the breakout.

🛡️ Milkdud’s "Anti-Houdini" Home Security Checklist
To ensure your new survivalist socialite stays safely indoors, please complete this security audit before her arrival:
🏠 Structural Integrity & Window Safety
• The "Pop-Test": Physically push on all window screens to ensure they are securely locked into the frame; Milkdud has a history of popping them out twice.
• Double-Lock Protocol: If a window must be open, use a secondary security bar or lock to prevent it from being opened wide enough for a cat to squeeze through.
• Screen Reinforcement: Consider upgrading to "pet-proof" heavy-duty mesh, as standard screens are no match for a determined Rice Lake legend.
🌳 Catio Fortification
• Total Enclosure: Ensure the catio is 100% enclosed with no gaps larger than an inch.
• Seal the Entry: Double-check the connection between the house and the catio (including the window or door used for access) to ensure it is completely sealed.
• Dig-Proofing: If the catio sits on grass or dirt, ensure the base is weighted or buried to prevent "tunneling" attempts.
🚪 General Home Security
• Slow-Roll Entrances: Always check for a "shadow" before opening exterior doors; she is fast and will take advantage of any hole she finds.
• The "Safety Room" Setup: Prepare a dedicated room with a door that shuts securely for her initial transition and slow introduction period.
• Air-Lock Maneuver: If possible, ensure one door is closed before opening the next when entering or exiting the home.
🚨 Emergency Contingency
• Live Trap on Standby: Keep a live trap in the garage; if she does escape, she tends to stay close but is notoriously difficult to get back inside without one. Drop Traps may need to be used but she is smart and catching her may only be had by a catio, garage, or other large area.
• Microchip Update: Ensure her microchip information is current so that when she is inevitably "found nearby but acting nervous," she can be identified immediately.

Health:
• ADoB: 7/2019
• Spayed
• Rabies
• Distemper
• Dewormer
• Flea Preventative
• Microchipped
• FIV/Feluk Negative
• Had dental work- many teeth missing

Lifestyle:
• No or older children
• Dog and cat friends are fine but she wants your attention
• Willing to continue an extra secure home
• INDOOR companion only

Sorry, no volunteers to answer petfinder's inquiry button.
