Milano's Story

If you prefer your cats on the sweet side, Milano is vanilla ice cream. His love language is being petted, chasing wand toys, chatting to you, and generally being near you at all times.

Milano was initially overwhelmed by the transition from barn life, and he shut down completely in a kennel environment. We decided to try bringing him to a foster home to see how he'd respond. Day by day, his foster family watched him bloom as he gradually came to understand that he is safe and loved. He now trots alongside his foster family wherever they go, chirping and chatting along the way. They have enjoyed watching him learn how to cat! He went from falling off cat trees head-first, to nimbly climbing cat walls. His favorite move is to drag his wand toy "kills" around the house while singing to show off what a great hunter he is! His second favorite move is flying leap wrestling moves with his foster-mate, Alba. Although they look like siblings, they met in foster, and are now good friends.

Milano LOVES the company of other cats and needs a home with other kitty companions who can give him confidence. He grew up in a small barn colony and was used to cats always being around. We have not observed him around dogs. Because he is very new to sharing a home with humans, he is seeking patient, mature adopters who can show him that people are safe, predictable, and not scary. For that reason, he would do best in a quieter home of adults, or families with older, respectful children only. Because of his wilder upbringing, it is important that Milano be kept as an indoor-only cat so that he knows he is not being abandoned to outdoor cat life again. He is very happy bird-watching through your windows as an alternative.

Milano seems to have some food sensitivities, but he is doing very well on a special low allergen diet. If you're looking for a big softie with a honey disposition, Milano might just be your dream Velcro cat.
