MIKE - Tabby wWhite Kitten (cc7216)'s Story

Animal Control was called..... There are kittens running around. Come pick them up so they'll be safe. Please find them homes..... So, the officer went out on another "there are kittens call". The next thing we knew there were four tabby kittens at the shelter. All four were frightened, and a couple were hissing. They appeared to be from a feral mom (who we're hoping to trap so she can be spayed). Mom was teaching them well. She was teaching them to survive in this great big world. But kittens are kittens, and with a little patience and love they started coming around. It wasn't long before they learned how good those scratches behind the ears feel. Now they come to the front of the cage when people walk by. Pick them up. Carry them around. They've become friendly. people cats. When they came in the estimate was 8 to 10 weeks old, but they've grown so fast! Now we're figuring they're maybe 5 months old. They've gone to the vet, have all their shots, have been dewormed, have been tested for FL/FIV (all negative) and have been neutered. Now they're ready for new homes to call their own.

We don't name kittens because there are always so many we'd run out of names
- but these are an exception. When they went to be vetted the nice ladies at the animal hospital really, really wanted to name them. Of course we gave in, and this group of four have been named after characters in the Netflix show "Stranger Things". This one is Mike. It will be up to his new family when he's adopted to decide if Mike suites him, or they decide on something else.... All four have brown tabby markings; some with a little white.

If you have any questions, would like more information about the kittens or if you are considering adoption, you can give us a call. Or, speak with an animal control officer through the West Orange Health Department at 973-325-4121. Best yet, stop by and take a look. The Township's Animal Control Facility (commonly called The Animal Shelter) is located at 311 Watchung Avenue, West Orange; and is open Monday through Friday 4:30 - 5:30.... .... (Occasionally additional hours can be made by appointment.)

......
