Mike's Story

Hi, I’m Mike!
I’m an older orange-and-white gentleman with a soft heart and a story that took a long time to write.

Years ago, before I came to the sanctuary, I lived in a feral colony where life was… tough. The other cats picked on me and didn’t always let me eat. When I arrived here, things changed in a big way, there was always food, warm beds, and kind humans. Still, I didn’t trust any of it at first. I was feral, scared, and very sure I wanted nothing to do with people.

But the humans here didn’t give up on me. They used patience, lots of food (seriously, lots), and quiet love. Year after year, they let me go at my own pace. And eventually… I caved. Turns out, I love affection. I lean into pets, enjoy gentle attention, and I have the most adorable tiny little meow you’ve ever seen.

I should tell you something important: I am deaf. I won’t hear you call my name, the vacuum, or your favorite TV show, but that also means I’ll never get tired of you telling me how cute I am. You can tell me you love me in sign language, slow blinks, and gentle hands. I understand those perfectly.

I do need a special kind of home. I’m a little shy at first, and I will need time to adjust. New places are big and unfamiliar, and trust doesn’t happen overnight for a guy like me. My future family needs to understand that patience isn’t optional, it’s essential. But if you give me the time and space to settle in, I promise I’m worth it.

I would do best with other cat friends. I love snuggling with other cats, curling up together in soft beds and blankets, and basking in the sun like a professional napper. I’m also a fan of catnip toys and lickable treats, those are a fast track to my heart.

If you’re looking for a sweet, quiet, special boy who has already done the hard work of learning to trust, I might be your guy. Come meet me at the sanctuary any day between 1–5pm, yes, even holidays. I’ll be here, probably in a cozy bed, soaking up the sunshine and waiting for the right person to take things slow with me.

I have excellent litter box habits. My new perfect family NEEDS to understand that it WILL take me a while to adjust at first and I WILL hide as I settle in. Give me time, patience, and use food as a tool to get me out of my shell — I really am a wonderful cat.

I am fully vetted: neutered, microchipped, FIV & FeLV negative, and up-to-date on all my vaccinations. I require an indoor-only home and, as with all cats — absolutely no declawing.

If you are interested in adopting Mike, please message us on Facebook at Furball Farm Cat Sanctuary or email us at FurballFarmCatSanctuary@gmail.com
