Mickie's Story

Mickie is in a foster home searching for his forever family! If you are interested in meeting him, copy, paste, and complete the link below. This will be sent to the foster family for follow-up:
https://greenvillefosterteam.tiny.us/meetyourmatch

You can also call or text the Lifesaving Team at 864-467-3985.

Mickie is a very sweet cat that loves to make biscuits and be the little spoon! He is shy at first, and needs the time and space to feel comfortable in a new environment, but it is worth the wait! At the tender age of four, Mickie is mature enough to always use his litter box, learns boundaries quickly (if you don't want him on counters, tell him no a few times and he will listen), but still has just the right amount of youthfulness. When he experiences the zoomies, its a treat to watch. Picture small toys thrown in the air, an elaborate routine of soccer flops and a few laps around the house. When you are available for down time, he would love to get some head scritches and if you are willing to share your lap, he will show you up close and personal, his biscuit making skills. As he is adjusting to his new life, he does still have some shy tendencies, but he truly is a sweet cat that is ready to start his new adventure with his new loving parents! He is currently sharing a foster home with an eight year old cat, and is doing well.

-Best suited for: Calm, quiet home
-Training: Fully litter trained
-Alone time: Does well up to 10-11 hours, no separation anxiety
-Car rides: Nervous at first but settles
-Energy level: Low (professional napper, enjoys relaxed playtime)
-Personality: Sweet, Shy, Gentle, Affectionate once comfortable
-Favorite activities: Playing with toys, napping, purring, making biscuits
-Fun facts: Loves wet food, gives deep loving eye contact, and prefers affection on his terms (not a fan of being picked up)

Adoption includes vaccines, deworming, flea treatment, microchip, and spay/neuter.

Step 1: Browse Our Pets Click on the dog and cat photos above to see animals currently available for adoption. Use the filter option to narrow down your search. Some of our pets live in foster homes and they are available for adoption, too! Step 2: Submit An Adoption Inquiry If you find a pet that you'd like to learn more about, click on their image. If you think they would be a good match and you'd like to visit them, you can either click on the "Apply for Adoption" button and submit an inquiry or you can visit them during our adoption walk-in hours Monday-Saturday 12pm-5pm. Submitting an inquiry does not place a hold or reservation on the pet but it does notify our team that you are interested and that you have more questions or want to set up a time to come visit. Step 3: Meet The Pet If the pet you're interested in is currently living at the shelter, we encourage you to come visit that pet as soon as possible. If you submitted an adoption inquiry, we will try to respond within 1-2 days. If the pet is in a foster home, we will connect you with the pet's foster family and you should get a response directly from the foster family within 1-2 days and they can set up a time for you to meet the pet. Step 4: Determine If It’s A Good Match When you meet the pet, our adoption counselors and foster families will tell you everything they know about the pet and help you to decide if it will be a good match for you, your pets, and your family. If it’s not a good match, that’s okay! We can help you find a better match – there are always lots of dogs and cats that need a home! All Animal Care adoptions include: * Spay or neuter * Microchip and Registration * PetHub ID tag * Vaccines * De-wormer * Flea Treatment * Heartworm Test (for dogs) * Heartworm Treatment for HW+ dogs * Feline Leukemia/FIV Test (for cats)
