Merlot's Story

One of Second Chance Kitty (SCK) members feeds a feral colony in Sacramento. Merlot had been there for over one year and had given birth to two litters of kittens. All the kittens have been taken, spayed and neutered and adopted if they were able to be tamed. Merlot was very crafty and would never go into the trap or come close enough to grab her. As the year went on, she began to trust the caretaker… when one day she allowed herself to be trapped. Merlot was spayed at the Sacramento SPCA feral/community cat clinic. During her recovery from surgery, it became crystal CLEAR, she was NOT a feral cat, but a kitty who had been abandoned and left to her own devices to survive in this cruel world we live in. We could NOT return her to the colony where she’d been surviving. She deserves so much more than what she has received. She is a LOVING kitty and has so much to give. She LOVES wet food that is the meat shreds or chunks best rather than the pate. She eats an entire can at bedtime each evening. Will you love her and care for her the rest of her life? She cannot take any chances and must be assured a wonderful life. She looks forward to a loving home of her own, and maybe even a gentle child to love on. She eats a grain free all life stage food and canned food as indicated above. Merlot is strictly an indoor kitty only.

Spayed, rabies, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, deflead, FELV/FIV tested negative and litter box trained.
