Merlin's Story

Merlin is an approximately 3 ½ year old, neutered male, Tabby with white markings, cat; Merlin is fully vaccinated, including for rabies. Merlin was rescued by PALS after he had been abandoned in an apartment when his owner moved out. Merlin was, understandably, upset at being abandoned; Merlin had a hard time trusting new people, and was very protective of himself, and his space, for several weeks. Slowly, we started building trust with Merlin, and over time, a cautious pet or two has turned into an acceptance of pets, and lots of purring; with the people he’s bonding with most, he’ll even roll over for a very quick and gentle belly rub. Merlin has been known to give little love bites when he’s overstimulated, or when he wants to be left alone, but he quickly relaxes when he sees that you’re going to respect his space; he is good with pets, and love, and he’ll even lie next to you on the bench in our small room looking out into the garden, but he’s still very wary of being picked up and held, so this is something that we have to take slowly with him. We know that Merlin isn’t your typical family cat, he’s just not for everyone, and we know that he won’t accept just anyone, either. But, we also know that his special someone, someone that will give him the time and patience to build a bond, and trust, with them, is out there somewhere, we just need to find them for Merlin! Due to his temperament and personality, we would not be able to adopt him into a home with children. If you think you can give this special guy the quiet and safe home where he can truly feel at peace, please come in and ask to meet Merlin.
