Meet Menace 3784
Menace 3784 (like Dennis the Menace) does not live up to his name at all. He's a shy and quiet big guy who can be real timid at first. He has been at MASH for a few months now and is finally showing his sweet side. He loves petting and will shove his head under our hands as he insists on more.
Menace gets really excited for food. We recommend sticking to a routine with meal time as this can help him warm up to you.
When first in your home, we strongly recommend setting him up in a small room, such as a bathroom. He will very likely hide when first brought home so block off areas where you don't want him to hide, such as under a bed or high up on a shelf. Provide him with hiding spaces like a den, a box, a covered chair. This way he can feel safe and you can still easily get near him.
Offer him treats, he really likes soft treats. This is can help him warm up to you and relax in his new home.
We do not know how he is with dogs or children. He lived with other cats and may benefit from a social cat in his next home. He will likely do best in a calm and quiet household.
Menace is FIV (Feline immunodeficiency virus) positive. This means he has a weakened immune system and may get sick easier. FIV positive cats can also live a long life like other cats. He can live in a home with cats that do not have FIV. Make sure everyone stays up to date on vaccines and that the cats are not fighting.
