Memphis $25 indoor/outdoor -Fostered's Story

More about me Feb 3: I love my window perch. I can and do sit here for hours on end watching the wildlife trickle by, the leaves waving in the wind and the mornings slowly eking away into the evening hour. You're always welcome to come by and give me some soft, warm body rubs and mini massages. I'll reward you with some soft purrs and kneading arms of contentment and then you are free to go!

Found as a stray on the shelter property, the humans are not clear exactly what my former life looked like. No doubt they understand that I had humans in my life as I DO like you but for shorter periods of time and then I get overstimulated and need some quiet, me time! My foster mom reports that I love playing with crunchy type balls and that I also enjoy migrating toys around her office area. I'm still settling in so in open spaces, I get a little frightened and I quickly trot off to my safe spot. You guessed it...the amazing window perch!

So what works for me?? A window perch and rooms with plenty of views of the outside, is really a must for me!! A quiet home where I have time to settle in and discover new spaces for myself will also bring out my best pet self. In my foster home, I've been fine running into other foster and resident kitties although for now, I've not been inclined to make them my new best friend- but definitely OK/open to sharing my space with them. I'm a beautiful girl inside and also outside -my fur is bunny soft to touch- and I promise I'll work hard to make you super proud for adding me to your home. I'm looking for a tiny miracle here and hope you might be my miracle worker. Please ask for MEMPHIS today.

Update Jan: Memphis was found on the grounds of Oconee Humane Society after she started approaching our dog walkers looking for food and a bit of attention. She is in foster care because she is not happy with the confined space at the shelter. She is happy sitting in a window seat catching the morning sun and watching the outdoor critters at play. She would probably love to join them. She likes having her head and cheeks gently rubbed. She will twine around and rub against your legs begging for wet food (her favorite). She is quiet, doesn't like sudden moves and will respond with a purr and meow if you talk softly with her. She can be picked up using hands under her belly, but does not like to be held and will squirm to be put down. She is looking for a home/barn where she can be independent in a quiet environment with people who just want a cat requiring very little maintenance. Please contact her foster mom by emailing tnr@oconeehumane.org if you have any questions or would like to meet Memphis!

Memphis a a female gray and white cat that likes to talk. She likes to be pet a little bit, but is not a lap cat. She will twine about your legs, but doesn't care to be picked up and placed against your shoulder. She is not afraid of dogs. She can engage in a bit of play, but may nip your hand if she thinks it's rough play. She watches hand movements so it's best to approach her slowly and start gently petting her head. She loves sitting in a window seat and gazing out at a world she would like to be a part of. She would make a good indoor/outdoor cat.
