Melon's Story
MAGNIFICENT MELON
Estimated DOB: Fall 2018 or earlier (with some of our kitties, it’s truly a guessing game)
Joined our flock: September 2024

Magnificent Melon may be blind, but that hasn’t stopped her from enjoying her free-roaming life with us in the ways that matter most to her. She navigates her world carefully and intentionally, choosing comfort and familiarity over chaos—and she does it with quiet grace.

At this time, Melon is considered a Purrmanent Resident, though if the right person or family came along, we would absolutely consider her for our Special Adoption Program. If you’d like to learn more about incredible Melon and our unique foster and adoption options, we encourage you to reach out.

Sweet lil’ Melon prefers to spend her days tucked into the bottom level of her favorite cat tower, where she feels safest. Not being able to see—and sharing space with younger, more playful cats bouncing about all day—this cozy, predictable spot is exactly where she wants to be. She’s a darling little lady who can become overwhelmed by too much handling, but she truly enjoys gentle back and head scratches… as long as her feet stay firmly on the ground. Being picked up is simply not her thing.

If Melon were to be adopted, she would likely do best in a small apartment or single-story home, where the layout is simple and consistent. With time, patience, and understanding, she would absolutely learn her surroundings and grow to feel secure in a quieter, more controlled environment.

Melon is a sweet soul, but much like Gertrude, she may ultimately be happiest staying right here with us. Still, I do sometimes wonder—if the right volunteer or adopter came along, someone willing to move at her pace and honor her boundaries—whether she might adjust beautifully and even thrive in a home of her own.

For now, she is safe, cherished, and exactly where she needs to be. 💛
