Melody's Story

Meet Melody, our lovely, golden girl whose owner abandoned her in the city over two years ago. For those two years, she had to fend for herself, trying to survive. Eventually, a cat trapper, trapped her and now she is safely in the hands of Second Chance.

Melody is a beautiful marked patch tabby who is friendly and enjoys pets. She is not a fan of other cats and we believe she was likely bullied and attacked, trying to keep herself alive. How awful an experience this senior girl must have experienced. It's now our goal to find her a safe, nurturing home, where she can be the only cat and treated like the special girl she is. Melody is active and spunky so her age is only a number.

Melody has thrived while in her foster home. While she loves laps and to be near people she is an independent girl. She needs to feel comfortable with a person before she favors them with a lap cuddle. She enjoys play when she is in a playful mood, especially with wand toys.

Melody will need a patient adopter who will allow her to adjust to a new home, new routine, new "parent". It takes time for this sweet girl to warm up to strangers but when she does her personality shines! Melody's sweet purrs will be music to your ears!

Melody would be great for a single adopter or couple who are home a lot and want a constant companion.

If you would like to meet our lovely Melody, after an approved application, a visit will be arranged for you to visit Melody in her foster home.

Melody has been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Melody has an approximate birthdate of 07-06-2012. Her adoption fee is $95.

If you are interested in Melody or any of the cats at Second Chance Cats of West Michigan, go to sccatswm.org/adopt to fill out an application, or stop in during open hours on Fridays from 11-2 or Saturdays and Sundays from 11-4.

Please note - we can only adopt to those who live within a one hour drive of Grand Rapids.
