Mellow - fluffy orange Tabby boy's Story
Meet Mellow – A Beautiful, Spicy Tabby Prince Looking for His Forever Kingdom

Mellow is a very handsome, fluffy 3-year-old neutered long-haired orange Tabby male with a huge heart, a strong personality, and a touch of “spice.” His people love him dearly but their current home situation is causing Mellow a lot of stress -- and it's affecting his quality of life. He deserves a home where he can be truly happy, spoiled and safe -- a true "only child" with a catio and a soft place to land.

Here’s what his people say about him:
-----
We took him in as a kitten from someone rehoming barn cats, and from the beginning, it was clear Mellow had a tough start — he arrived with parasites, digestive issues, and a lot of stress. Meds and a good diet have taken care of all of that. Through it all, he’s shown us just how sweet and full of life he can be.

Mellow is a deeply loving boy who thrives on companionship — he loves to be nearby, whether curled up behind the couch or supervising from the desk while you work. He has strong opinions (especially about where your water cup belongs — not on his counter!) and is incredibly playful. He even plays chase with us!

That said, Mellow needs a very specific kind of home:

He needs to be the only cat as he thrives being the center of attention.

He would do great in a quiet home. For this reason we’re saying no young kids in the house, please and thanks.

He would do best with someone who is cat-savvy, home often, and willing to meet his needs. He bonds deeply with women and thrives on consistent attention and routine.

A catio or safe outdoor time is essential. He goes outside 2–3 times per day, and it’s vital to his well-being.

Mellow tends to chew socks or clothing left out —- an anxiety-related behavior that can be managed with awareness and attention. With two kids in the house, it’s hard to keep everything picked up, which is why he needs a home with no kids.

He tends to be cautious around new people initially (especially men) but he warms up over time. Once you have won him over, he likes attention — and once he’s comfortable around men in his life, he’s affectionate and calm with them.

Mellow is on a special diet, and his future person will need to stay on top of his health and behavioral needs. Mellow may also be okay with one very cat-appropriate dog, but he’s not looking for a busy, high-energy household.

If you're an experienced cat person looking for a charming, quirky companion who will give you tons of love (and maybe knock over a few cups), Mellow might be the perfect cat for you.
-----

For more info and/or to apply to adopt Mellow, send us an email at SummitDogRescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly.
