Mel's Story

Green-eyed Mel and Carly are a beloved bonded pair of totally indoor cats who unexpectedly need a new home through no fault of their own. Their senior guardians are no longer able to care for them—one has passed away, and the other is transitioning to nursing care. These two have known the security of a loving home and now need someone special to give them that same love and stability for the rest of their lives.

Mel is a 9-year-old golden tabby and a big, sweet, mellow guy. He loves napping in the sunshine, being petted and having his beautiful coat brushed. He has a great purr and is affectionate while still being fairly independent—although he does enjoy an occasional lap. At night, Mel prefers sleeping in his own cat bed.

And this boy appreciates a good meal! According to his family, Mel has never met a meal he didn’t like—and treats are always welcome.

Mel and Carly have spent most of their lives in a quiet home with their guardian. They have had only limited exposure to dogs, unfamiliar cats, and children, so we don’t want to make promises about how they would respond in those situations.

Carly and Mel can be met by potential adopters in Alamogordo, NM, and must be adopted together.

Because we want their next home to be their forever home, veterinary references demonstrating a history of responsible, loving care for previous pets are required.
