Meatloaf - ADOPTION PENDING!'s Story

Meet Meatloaf, a good looking young buff tabby who along with many other cats were in a home, allowed to breed uncontrollably, and when the elderly owner died, no one to care for the cats. These indoor cats were forced out of the home into the outside with no shelter, food, water, etc. A terribly sad situation. Trappers were able to trap many cats and 10 of them have made their way to Second Chance.

Meatloaf is skittish. He will get close but sudden movements will send him running. Meatloaf is very curious and is eager to play. The way to gain his trust is through play, especially wand toys and food, like Churu. He will get close for either of these activities and has even tolerated pets while licking a treat. Meatloaf also loves to chase balls, and run in and out of a tunnel. With much patience and dedication Meatloaf may learn to like pets without treats and that play time means humans are fun. The fact that he is willing to play and receive food from people is a good sign.

Meatloaf would do best in a quieter, routine home with a single adopter, a couple, or a family with older respectful kids. He needs a home that will engage in play with him everyday. Meatloaf has shown he can co-exist with other cats but he can be dominant with food.

Meatloaf has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Meatloaf has an approximate birthdate of 05-29-2024. His adoption fee is $95.

If you are interested in Meatloaf or any of the cats at Second Chance Cats of West Michigan, go to sccatswm.org/adopt to fill out an application, or stop in during open hours on Fridays from 11-2 or Saturdays and Sundays from 11-4.

Please note - we can only adopt to those who live within a one hour drive of Grand Rapids.

Thank you!
