Meatball's Story

Meatball was an outdoor cat who was not doing well outside. He would only show up at the colony to eat some of the time, and would wait for the other cats to finish before going over to eat whatever food was left, if any. He often got picked on by other cats and wildlife, and showed up with large wounds. When we trapped him with the intention to Trap Neuter Return, he had other medical issues including needing a full dental extraction which was a several months wait list. At only 3 years old, the outdoor life was taking a toll on him and he was not fit to be returned outside.

Since then he has really started to open up inside! He is comfortable hanging out in the living room with the other cat and human residents. He still hides under the bed sometimes or when a stranger is visiting. He is extremely food motivated! He hasnt embraced being pet yet but will eat churu from me, and we are working on socializing him by petting him while hes eating churu, which he will tolerate. Hes still a bit weary of humans but really fun to have around and watch. Even though he is a big beefy boy he gets spooked easily and has a baby sounding meow to ask for food which is funny. He likes to roll over on his back exposing his big potbelly, and will even fall asleep like that looking like he is smiling. It is funny watching him twirl around and he does look extremely comfortable and happy. And he loves catnip toys!

Meatball is prone to resource guarding and can be antagonizing to other cats, he may be more comfortable in an only cat or one other cat home. He has been neutral with kittens and some cats, it seems to be more towards other male cats who came from outdoor colonies he is competitive with. At the current fosters home after a couple months he cohabitates fine with the other resident cats, but can be territorial towards new cats that come in.

His medical needs have all been taken care of so now he is ready to find his adoptive home! His perfect home would be with someone who will appreciate him for who he is, be patient with him and continue to work on socializing him so he can life a happy rest of his life indoors.

Adoption application form:https://forms.gle/vdekoNiTkG6QAqWy7
