Maxie

Maxie is very friendly with people, and generally easy to handle. He's easy to get into a carrier and travels calmly in the car. Vet visits are simple too since he handles them well. He gets along well with other cats. He's very food motivated, so it helps to keep anything tempting put away in the pantry or fridge, especially bread. He wont bother other cats during meals, but hell happily take whatever they leave behind. A puzzle feeder slows him down and gives the others time to finish. He now uses puzzle feeders for wet and dry food. <br/><br/>Maxie first came to me as a stray who began visiting regularly in November. I cared for him outside through November and December. In January, I brought him fully inside and took care of his vet needs. He is FIV-positive but healthy. After about 1.5 months he has became very comfortable indoors, and is now one of the most playful cats. He loves chasing around a toy on a wand, and is usually easily convince to play whenever the wand comes out. Laser pointers are also effective, but he has learned to expect a treat when he "catches" the dot.<br/><br/>Maxie has FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), which is a virus transmitted between cats mainly by biting. Casual contact does not transmit this virus and it is not transmitted to people or dogs. As an indoor-only kitty, with an excellent diet, and a healthy and loving home environment, Beethoven will be able to live a normal life.
