*Max&Millie*- A Bonded Couple's Story
Max and Millie were rescued from two separate shelters and spent months together waiting for a foster or an adopter. During that time these two cats, who were initially total strangers to each other, formed a deep and lasting bond. When they first went into foster care a few months ago, neither was used to being around humans and they were both extremely shy and afraid. They would hide in a back room or cuddle together in a chair or under a desk. As time went on, Max and Millie lost most of their fears but their bond remains strong as ever.
Millie is a small black and white female, with a white diamond on her chest and perfect little white booties. She is the most inquisitive and adorable feline. Everything sparks her interest, be it the TV, a cord dangling from a counter or shoes, yes shoes, as she often tries to stick her whole head into the tip or cradle one between her paws. She loves all her toys, throws them into the air, runs after them, entertaining herself for hours. Nighttime is the right time for Millie as you might hear the sound of what seems to be a herd of elephants when all it is is the sound of one small cat chasing an imaginary mouse. But more often than not, as you go to sleep, she will crawl under the sheets and nuzzle up close to you and purr and purr...Perhaps because he is older and may have experienced some abuse or other trauma, Max, a large orange tabby, has not lost most of his shyness and is still apt to hide when startled, but like Millie, he will seek out your nearness, at nighttime, jumping onto the bed and, after rubbing his head against yours, he will settle down on the pillow next to you.
In the morning you will most often find Max and Millie cuddled up next to each other on your bed. Max and Millie still favor the backroom where they were first kept and when you return for work or outings you will most often find them cuddled close together on a chair, bathing each other. Max would suffer greatly if he lost the one creature, namely Millie, that he is closest to and who has been such a constant in his little cat life for the past year. Millie too would greatly miss her boy.
Max and Millie need to find a new home together. They are spayed and neutered, current on their shots, and have a clean bill of health. Max is approximately 8 yrs old, Millie is approximately 3 yrs old. For info on adopting or fostering them, call Connie at 775-831-1730 or e-mail tahoepet@yahoo.com. If assistance is needed, food and litter will be provided by WARF.
