Mavis (Alaria)'s Story

Mavis: The Comeback Queen We Absolutely Adore! Some cats steal your heart quietly. Mavis? She marches in, crunches a treat, says a few words about it — and then steals your heart anyway. This adorable three-year-old black-and-white beauty was originally adopted from FieldHaven. But after that, her life became a whirlwind of change. Multiple homes. New environments. New people. Other cats. More change. At one point, she was even at risk of euthanasia because she was “acting out.” Here's what we know: Mavis doesn't thrive in chaos. She doesn't do well being bounced around. And she definitely doesn't appreciate being thrown into a home with other cats and expected to just “figure it out.” Her most recent adopter stepped up when others wouldn't. She advocated for Mavis. She researched. She tried. She reached out to us for help. Together, we made a plan. In the end, it became clear it wasn't a failure — it was an incompatibility. And that matters. Now Mavis is back with us, and guess what? Once she decompresses, she is so sweet. Talkative. Cuddly. Opinionated (in the best way). And wildly enthusiastic about crunchy treats. She just needs time. Stability. A human who understands that trust is built, not rushed. Her ideal home? • Likely as your one-and-only feline • Calm, predictable environment • Someone patient enough to let her settle • Someone who sees past the “she's had a past” and focuses on her future We LOVE this girl. Truly. There is a wonderful cat inside Mavis who just needs a safe place to land — and stay. If you've been looking for a loyal, chatty, treat-motivated companion and you believe in second (and third and fourth) chances... Mavis is waiting. Meet her at our shelter today, open daily 11 AM – 4 PM.
