Mattie's Story

Mattie is a 6-year-old sweetheart with the softest eyes and the gentlest soul. After being left behind when his previous owners moved (we know!), a kind neighbor named Emily took him under her wing and made sure he got the care he deserved. Despite everything he’s been through, Mattie is incredibly loving. He adores laps; if you sit down, he sees that as an open invitation. When he’s not curled up in your lap, you might find him tucked away in a cozy crevice, decompressing and getting used to the comforts of indoor life again. He’s still adjusting, but every day he gets a little braver and a little more snuggly. Mattie is: • Great with other cats • Polite and gentle (no hissing, scratching, or biting ever) • A fan of catnip and mouse toys • Obsessed with wet food and tuna treats • A total lovebug in the making He’s already shown how sweet he can be, and we know with a little time and patience, he’s going to bloom into the perfect cuddly companion. Head Start Animal Rescue's Adoption Policy

Prior to adoption, all animals are sterilized, tested for diseases, vaccinated, flea treated, and dewormed. The adopting party receives all paperwork of the animal’s prior medical care. All adoptable pets are fostered him homes with children and other feline companions, so our animals are use to busy households and every day commotions. They cannot wait to be loved by you and your family. Potential adopters complete an application and their references are checked. Once their references are checked, they are invited to meet the animal they are interested in, if it is a good match the adoption occurs.
