MATILDA's Story

Happy Fall! The calendar might say we are in the "ber" months, but the temperatures are still warm! That means we are still struggling through kitten season. We desperately need to make room to get Moms, kittens and other cats in and fixed before the cold comes. Please consider adopting! And tell your friend to adopt too! We still have lots of kittens and some of our older cats have been here awhile, so there is a cat for everyone!! Remember,
adopting saves TWO cats lives! Adopting one cat will free up a cage so we can help another. Together we can make countless more cats & kittens lives better. Win! Win! The kitties thank you too!

This is Matilda!
Matlida is s a domestic short haired black mini panther, spayed female, up to date on her shots, around 6 months old and available for adoption to be an indoor ONLY cat from Griffith Animal Control/Treasured Friends Rescue in Northwest Indiana!

Hi!! I'm a shy mini panther learning to be nice kitty! I'm very happy I was found when I was young and brought in off the streets. I can't imagine what life would be like if I wasn't rescued. I would constantly be looking for food, a place to sleep or worrying about having kittens!?! Ugh! No kittens for me! I'm happy to eat and play!! The shelter people take good care of me, but I've been thinking I want my own forever home like some of my other kitty friends have
I love to play with other kitties or by myself! I can be a very shy at first. I mean, I am a mini panther! I'm very sleek and cute and if you're nice I might let you pet me!
I've recently learned of this red dot (Don't tell Matilda it's a laser pointer!) that I'm trying to catch! It appears suddenly and then it's just gone! I thought I had it a few times but it suddenly reappears! If you could help me find it, we could definitely be friends! What else Oh! I LOVE wet kitty food, toys, kittens and most other cats- as long as they are nice and want to be friends ( and with a proper introduction period!) I really really want my own person or even a family soon- I can't wait!

Make an appointment to meet me at the shelter! I'm in a room with a few other kitty friends and we can all play!
I love to play, so a home with another younger kitty (or maybe one of my shelter kitty friends) would be great! However NO dogs or young kids. If you're looking for an older kitten or a young cat, come see meeeee!!

If you're looking for shy kitty that needs a chance to get a home, make an appointment to meet Matilda! You will need to have patience with her as she gets used to a new home, so please keep that in mind when considering her.

Please call 219-922-1766 and leave a message to meet Matilda! Also, please fill out an adoption application which can be found online at TreasuredFriendsRescue.org or follow the link from our profile at Petfinder ( scroll down to the bottom of the homepage)

*****************************************
Griffith Animal Control, in partnership with Treasured Friends Animal Rescue believes in giving kitties that others wouldn't give a chance, a helping hand at getting a forever home. Our volunteers work with shy and/or unsocialized kitties everyday to gain their trust to show them they are safe and no one will hurt them. However, when the kitties go to a new home, some will require extra time to get used to new surroundings and different people. Please consider giving a kittie who might need a little time to get used to a new home, a chance. This is a serious commitment and it sets the kitties back in their level of trust if they are given up after a few weeks or months. We are always here to help with any questions Please, only apply if you are an experienced cat owner or are willing to provide patience and good forever home.
Thank you!
