Mateo's Story

Meet Adoptable Mateo 🄹 Some cats just need one person to believe in them. We are trying to find that person for Mateo.

At 6 years old, Mateo has clearly experienced a difficult past. While we don't know everything he's been through, it's easy to see that he's still learning that people can be kind and the world can be a safe place.

Most days, you'll find Mateo tucked away in the comfort of his cubby, quietly observing everything around him. But when the shelter quiets down and no one is around, his curiosity takes over. He ventures out to explore, showing us that beneath his fearful exterior is a cat who wants to experience life--he just needs to feel safe first.
If you approach Mateo with patience and a gentle touch, he'll happily accept soft pets. Those quiet moments remind us that he's trying. Every day, he's taking tiny steps toward trusting again.

Mateo isn't looking for someone who expects an instant lap cat. He's looking for someone who understands that healing takes time. Someone who will let him settle in at his own pace, celebrate the small victories, and give him the chance to become the cat he's meant to be.

We truly believe that once Mateo feels secure in a loving home, his personality will continue to blossom.
