Marigold's Story

Are you looking for a cat with attitude? Well Marigold is your girl. This beautiful calico 6 year old kitty is pure DIVA. She will sit and growl at you for nothing. She loves temptations treats and will knock them off the counter until you give her some. She hates paper being moved but insists on sitting on your desk while you work so if you move any paper she can attempt to bite you. Except she doesn't really bite. She just acts like she wants to bite you.

Marigold is the office kitty at APET. She does not like other cats. She will tolerate small dogs that leave her alone. She really does hate paper. She gets into my file drawers and pulls all the papers out - so now I have to lock my desk.

She is a beautiful handful. She must be kept on a urinary tract diet to keep bladder stones from forming. You must also offer your arm up for a bite, daily. Not for a real bite, but just so she can let you know that she could, if she wanted to. No crazy ex girlfriend can compare. Don't believe me? Come by and meet her. You will love/hate her as much as we do.

Animal Preservation of East Texas (APET)'s Adoption Policy
We have potential adopters apply for the animal they are wishing to adopt. We try to have an indepth conversation about what kind of pet they are seeking, which ones would be the best fit for them, and do they have the necessary home environment for the animal they wish to adopt. If we feel they meet the criteria for the home, we then ask to be allowed to contact their vet to make sure any other animals on the home are spayed/nuetered and up to date on vaccines. If we have any doubts at all, we schedule a home visit. We go out to the adopter's home and check their fence, their home, and any other animals they own. All of their own animals must be spayed and neutered and up to date on vaccines or they are not allowed to adopt any of ours. If everything passes inspection, they adoption is allowed to proceed and they return to the shelter to pick up the animal. Most times however, just having a conversation is sufficient. We make a copy of their ID, we have them fill out the application, we go over the most important parts of the application that we feel they need to pay attention to, and we allow the adoption to proceed.
