Maria's Story

Maria, who’s between one and two years of age, was accidentally trapped while attempting to rescue a different tuxedo cat, which was a good thing since she soon delivered three kittens. When her three babies were a couple weeks old, Maria was introduced to two orphaned kittens, and she accepted them right away making her litter jump to five hungry mouths to feed.

In the beginning when Maria first came into foster care, we were unsure if she was feral or just terribly frightened. After witnessing how loving she was to her babies, it was decided taking the time to work with Maria to make her adoptable would be worthwhile and it has been.

Maria is still calming down so it will take an experienced adopter to allow her the time to readjust to a new home. She loves to play with small toys and will wear you out playing with any toy on a string. She’s gentle and affectionate. All five of her kittens have found loving homes so now it’s Maria’s turn!

Maria is FELV/FIV negative.

Apply online at cnycatcoalition.org/adoption-application (say you saw the cat on Petfinder)

Your donation of $120 will contribute to the cost of veterinary treatments the cat has received, such as spay/neuter, rabies and distemper vaccines, testing, microchipping, deworming, and flea and ear mite treatments.

Adoption includes a free lifetime microchip registration!
