Mari's Story
*Mari is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting her, please email catadoptions@monmouthcountyspca.org or call the adoption center at 732-542-5962 to schedule a visit.*

Mari has one very important request of her future forever family: she needs at least one friendly, confident, playful and snuggly kitten/cat friend that she can live with and love forever and ever.

You see, when Mari is by herself, she is shy and skittish. Put her next to a loving and confident cat or kitten though and she's as friendly and affectionate as can be! She just needs a well-socialized kitty friend(s) to make her feel safe and to give her the confidence boost she needs to see that her new humans are great!

Mari was found as a stray in Freehold Boro right before Thanksgiving. She came in with two other kittens who were later TNRed due to being feral and not being able to be handled. TNR stands for "Trap-Neuter-Return" and is a lifesaving program for feral cats. TNR cats are humanely trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated and returned to the location where they were found so they can continue to live the outdoor life they enjoy.

Mari, although timid and skittish, was always open to human touch. She wasn't feral-she just needed some help to become comfortable with people.

In her foster home, Mari saw one of her foster mom's adult cats and the lightbulb went off! Mari started purring and chirping and ran over to the big cat. Ever since, she's been living her best life being cuddled and groomed by her foster siblings.

The big cats have been teaching Mari that humans are safe and nice and as a result, Mari has been learning to trust people. She's still a work in progress and will need an adult-only home with pet parents who can be patient with her and give her the time and space she needs to come around.

Mari is about 4 months young as of 1/7/26.

Mari HAS to have at least one friendly, well-socialized and loving cat/kitten in her forever home. Are you looking to help a shy kitty live her best life? Do you have at least one well-adjusted cat/kitten who would enjoy showing Mari the ropes and gaining a best friend? If so, Mari is the one for you (and your cat(s)/kitten(s).
