Marcellus's Story
Marcellus is a 4-5-year-old long-haired ex-street cat. He has got the scars, rips and tears of a venerable tom cat, but the demeanor of a love-starved, nervous little teddy bear. When he was first found outdoors, he was beat up, thin, goopy and had chronic URI symptoms. After several months of meds, good food, a surgery for double entropian and LOTS of hugs and kisses and cuddles, our boy is now adjusted to indoor life. He still carries some of the physical and emotional wounds of outdoor life. He is skittish around abrupt movements and sounds and doesn't like a whole lot of commotion. But he is also a FIERCE seeker of love and affection, has decided he is very much a lap cat and insists on attention-even grabbing your hand (so so gently and sweetly, with no claws) to pull it to his face for endless cheek rubs. He will follow you around with his big, mournful cry if you refuse to pet him. So please don't refuse to pet him. He is also quite playful and likes ribbon and kicker toys most of all. He won't pass up a good quality catnip, either ?

Marcellus's ideal home would have at least one other friendly and social cat. He is incredibly docile and comfortable with other cats, even those who aren't immediately so nice to him. He would do fine with a calm dog who stayed out of his way. A home without young kids would be best--remember what we said about loud noises and abrupt movements. We would love to see our floofy teddy bear go to a cat savvy home with confident caretakers who understand a cat's body language. Marcellus is the type of cat that feeds off your energy. If you are nervous around him, he will be nervous and will run and hide. He does require some coaxing and babying, but that is a small price to pay to see that adorable face every day.

Marcellus is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, microchipped, FelV negative and FIV positive. FIV positive cats can safely live with negative cats and may be more susceptible to illness, but typically live normal, healthy lifespans if kept indoors and on a healthy diet and regular vet care. We are happy to answer any questions about our big, beautiful boy and can set up meets for approved applicants.

Apply: new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/CCRS/Cat
