Marcel's Story
Marcel was adopted from PAL in 2022 as a kitten. When he was adopted, he was notably scared and a nervous kitty. Over the past couple of years in his home, we were told he was nervous and would come up to the owners very rarely, on his terms, and was just a scared boy. Towards the end of 2025, we received a message notifying us the owners had surrendered him to The Animal Foundation. They said they recently got a new dog, and Marcel started peeing and pooping in the crate, then outside of it, and they didn't know why. Then when they went to take him to the vet, he bit one of the owners due to stress and fear. They said they attempted to get ahold of us, but we didn't answer, so they took him to TAF. TAF notified us and we picked him up. We got him back on December 30th, and since then, he's been nothing but extremely scared, nervous, and petrified. Marcel needs an owner who is willing to work with him, allowing him a lot of time - which could take months to years - to get comfortable. He might not ever let anyone love him again, but maybe if you're the right person for him, he will. Marcel doesn't deserve what he has gone through. He hasn't been fully introduced to out cafe, as we're giving him plenty of time, moving very slowly, to trust this environment and know he's safe. We were told he was in a home with other cats and didn't show any behavioral issues with them. However, due to the behaviors described from the past, he most likely won't do good in a home with a dog(s). <br/>We did do a urinalysis on Marcel to be sure the urination wasn't a medical issue, and the only issue that arose was that he was dehydrated, which is most likely due to the stress he's been under. We have put him on a special urinary diet to help supplement that, which also happens to have a calming supplement additive to it. If Marcel goes to a home and does eventually get comfortable, he'll most likely be able to switch back to normal food, as we're pretty confident he has no urinary issues.
