Maple's Story

Meet our precious, tiny, Maple.

Maple was found as a stray with her two babies. Their finder cared so much about this little family, that she fed them daily to build their trust and then took them into her home to foster them.

From her foster:
Maple sure packs a lot of love into a tiny kitty-cat body! This 6-pound brown tabby female is one of the most affectionate cats I’ve ever met. She loves nothing more than scratches behind the ears and belly rubs. When you’re done, she will return the favor with lots of kisses. Maple is adjusting well to life indoors and has been enjoying the comforts of a soft bed and full belly. She is starting to be a lap cat but prefers not to be picked up. Maple loves other cats and would likely do well with kids as long as they are gentle with her. She has not had exposure to dogs but may do well with proper introduction.

Maple has been spayed.

The adoption fee for Maple is $100. All cats and kittens are tested for feline leukemia and FIV, vaccinated with FVRCP vaccinations and rabies if 4 months or older, dewormed, given vet-approved flea prevention, spayed/neutered if older than 4-5 months and microchipped.

We strive to do all that we can to make sure that we are adopting a healthy and happy kitty into a new home. In addition, all of our cats and kittens are fostered in either a private home or office setting so that volunteers can socialize the kitties, develop good litter box habits and get to know their personalities to make as best a match as possible with an adoptive home!

Cat Adoption Guidelines:

You must fill out an application to be considered for adoption. Send your application in directly at www.ForThePets.org. You can email us with any questions at humanesociety@murray-ky.net.

This is not a first come process; we try to match the cat or kitten with a home that will be a Forever Home. We are a small group of volunteers that have full-time jobs outside of our volunteer time for the humane society. The time to process an application can vary depending on the availability of the Cat Adoption Team, the information provided on the application (whether it is completely filled out) and the number of applicants for that pet. We try to process them as quickly as possible.

All of our cats are indoor cats only unless otherwise specified. We also do not allow declawing of the cat.

We do not fly or ship our cats due to heat/cold concerns and safety issues. If you are willing to fly out AND fly the cat back in the cabin (size restrictions) with you, that would be considered.

We do adopt out-of-state, but we do not transport. If you apply to adopt a cat and are chosen, you must come to Murray, KY to pick up the cat and fill out the paperwork in person.

We can't provide individual meet and greet sessions for each applicant. If chosen to adopt, you will have plenty of time for your family and pets to visit with the potential new family member before signing any paperwork and will not be committed to adopt if you choose not to at that time.
