Mama Mocha's Story

This little girl was rescued from the Portsmouth Humane Society along with her 5 kittens to help relieve some of the overcrowding there. Her background before being turned into the PHS is unknown to us, but we believe she was someones pet that was abandoned to the elements. Unfortunately, she contracted FIV while outside and got pregnant. Barely out of her kittenhood herself, she was an excellent mama and surrogate mama to a roomful of kittens along with 2 other mamas at the time. All of her babies have bben adopted so now it's her time to shine. This sweet girl is fully up to date on all her vaccines, has been spayed and is looking for a home that will give her all the love and attention she so richly deserves!<br/>Please don't let the FIV scare you off! FIV is a retrovirus that affects cats, similar to HIV in humans. It weakens the cat's immune system, making them more susceptible to infections. It is not a death sentence, nor is it contagious in anyway to other cats or to humans. FIV cats can live long, happy lives with the proper health checks. This special girl deserves some happiness in her short life so please give her a chance to become your furever companion.
