Mama Mia (Special Needs)

An extraordinarily adorable cat with special needs who is looking for a forever home. ? ???<br/><br/>Mamma Mia is a tiny bundle of floof with huge charm and purrsonality. <br/>Mia’s very sweet, talkative and incredibly kitten like. She gets the zoomies, sprinting from room to room, chirping and carrying her toys back and forth. Her absolute favorite things are anything catnip, springs, tunnels and of course a good Churu treat (this girl loves her food!).<br/><br/>Her favorite way to greet you is by chirping, meowing, and flopping on the ground directly in front of you, leaving you no choice but to give her belly rubs (yes she loves belly rubs!). <br/><br/>She’s pretty independent until she decides it’s time to wake up or wants attention. She’ll climb all over her foster mom’s mom in bed and even wiggle her head under her hand while she’s sleeping to get her up and petting her. <br/><br/>Mia is very smart and has learned that a gentle tap on your arm with her paw or a few quick kisses on your arm will earn her lots of pets and attention. When she’s not rolling on your lap or nibbling your fingers in happiness, she likes to find a spot close by to sit and watch tv and just be with you. <br/><br/>One of Mia’s most endearing traits is that from any place in the room, if you say her name and tell her how pretty she is, she flops on her back and makes biscuits!?<br/><br/>This girl is hoping there’s a super special someone out there just for her who will care for her and give her all the love she desperately craves.<br/><br/>Mia requires some extra care due to unlucky circumstances. She was born with something called a “PDA”. This is a small hole in the heart that if caught early, often can be successfully corrected surgically. Unfortunately for Mamma Mia, she lived with this hole for over a year with no vet care before she came to us. Because of this, there was damage done to her heart. This damage has taken surgery off the table and may shorten her life span. For now she’s on a few easy to administer medications twice a day that have made a huge difference in helping her feel like a happy go lucky young cat. Her recent checks at the cardiologist had been unexpectedly amazing, so read on…<br/><br/>At Mia’s early checks, the left side of her heart was failing and huge, and her pro BNP test (a blood test that basically measures the strain on the heart) maxed out the machine at 1500. Her vet had never even seen that in a cat. <br/>Fast forward seven months and her pro BNP is down to 367 which is still a little above normal but a huge difference! In more good news, Mia’s last echo wasn’t even able to visualize the PDA anymore because of how well her heart is balanced now - a huge improvement! The worst problem for her was her pulmonary hypertension and since that’s improved the PDA may be actually helping to balance the pressures of the heart. Her vet said the pulmonary hypertension is much better and her cardiologist was very happy! And - her heart murmur is down from a 6 to 1!!!<br/><br/>Mia is on 4 medications so she gets 2 in the AM and all 4 in pm. She’s so easy about it! She takes her meds like a champ. She’s typically laying upside down in her favorite bed when it’s time for nighttime meds. She would probably eat most of the meds in some Churu treat, but it’s been easier to make sure she’s getting all of it by pilling her with a pill pocket since she doesn’t mind. The Churu has become her reward after meds she really looks forward to.<br/>Mia’s a very clean cat and really only requires occasional brushing to prevent tangles. She is very handleable and doesn’t mind being held. She is very much like a rag doll where she kinda just hangs her body. Mia’s foster mom is able to trim Mia’s nails with little restraint.<br/><br/>Mia dislikes car rides (cries a lot) but is a very good girl at the vet. <br/>In her forever home, Mia may be a good fit with a calm, cat savvy dog. Her bestie in her foster home is a cat savvy dog named Nani! Mamma Mia will roll over next to Nani in hopes that Nani will groom her and clean her ears. <br/>In her foster home, she also lived with quite a few cats without much luck. She just spits and hisses, but has never made contact with another cat.<br/>Mia will need some time to adjust to a new home, so her forever family would need a little patience.
