Mama de Mayo's Story
Mama de Mayo was known around the neighborhood as a friendly stray likely abandoned by someone who moved. One day I received a call from a self identified "dog person" who, although she'd pet Mama de Mayo in the months prior when she'd seen her was at a loss for what to do in her current predicament. Mama de Mayo had snuck into her finished basement & given birth to 5 kittens behind her couch. I asked our local TNR associate to go there to assess the situation & she was able to trap the now nervous new mom. The little family went to foster & now most of her kittens have been adopted. Mama de Mayo was initially pretty nervous in shelter but did well in foster so it will likely take her a little more time to decompress once in her new home. Mama de Mayo has been microchipped, vaccinated & spayed.
