Mama (AKA Mamaccino)'s Story
Mamaccino — A Young Mama With a Big Personality. Born 3/18/24

Meet Mamaccino, lovingly called Mama. She is a sweet young cat who had her kittens, Mocha and Latte, while she was still very young herself. She has spent the past several months learning that people, homes, food, affection, and play can all be good things. Mama has made some incredible progress. She can still be easily startled and appreciates a calm home where she is allowed to approach people on her own terms, but the timid street cat she once was is becoming a remarkably affectionate companion. Once she trusts you, her soft fur, tiny voice, playful personality, and love of attention really come out.

Mama would do well as an only cat with a patient adopter, or with another gentle, like-minded cat. She can also be adopted with her sons, Mocha and Latte. The boys must stay together, and keeping all three family members together would be wonderful if the right home comes along. Mama is a talker. When it is time to eat, she gets excited and loves to tell you all about it with her adorable little meows. She will happily keep up a conversation while you prepare her meal, especially when she knows something delicious is coming. She has also discovered that she really enjoys lap time. Mama now comes for daily lap time and will jump up onto your lap to stand there while she gets attention, pets, and affection. She is still learning what the concept of actually lying down on a lap means, but every once in a while she decides that it is worth trying — and she has even relaxed fully into a lap a few times. Those little moments are especially meaningful because they show just how far she has come.

Mama also loves spending time with her people at night. She enjoys lying nearby, being petted, and settling in for some quiet companionship. She has a special love for sunny windows and will happily curl up in a planter if there is a comfortable spot for her. Mama may be a mother, but she is still a young cat herself — and she definitely acts like it when playtime starts. She loves chasing laser toys, rolling toys, balls of crinkled paper, wand toys, and especially toys with catnip. She enjoys daily play and can turn from sweet and cuddly into a playful little hunter in no time. She has a wonderfully sweet personality once she feels safe, and her progress continues to be rewarding to watch.

Mama's ideal home is calm, patient, and predictable. She does not need someone to rush her or constantly handle her. She does best when she can choose when to approach, and she has shown that when given that choice, she increasingly chooses people. She may still have moments where something spooks her and she retreats, but that does not mean she has gone backward. She is learning that she can come back out, and that the people around her are safe. Her adopter will be rewarded with something special: watching a once-wary young mother continue to discover how wonderful being someone's beloved house cat can be.

Mama can be adopted on her own. She may also do very well with another calm, gentle cat who has a compatible personality. And for the special adopter with enough room and love for the whole family, Mama can potentially stay with her sons, Mocha and Latte. She is not looking for a perfect home. She is looking for a safe, patient and a forever one.

If you are interested in this beauty or any of our other angels, you can complete an adoption application online at:

https://www.kittenangels.org/adopt

Please indicate on the adoption application that you are interested in Mamma fostered by Dusty.

Please note, fosters do get final approval for any adoption as they are most familiar with the personalities of their foster kittens and cats.

Kitten Angels is a non profit, volunteer organization. We rely solely on fostering, volunteers, donations, and adoption fees. An adoption fee of $175.00 must be paid at the time of adoption by either cash or check.
