Maisie Sweets's Story
Hi there, I’m Maise!

I’m a 3-year-old black-and-brown tabby with a flair for fun, naps, and…well, food! I’m FIV+, but don’t let that scare you off. I can (and will!) live just as long and happily as any other house kitty, as long as I get regular checkups and lots of love. I actually love spending time with other cats—FIV or not—because I’m quite the social butterfly (with a motherly streak!).

A little about my background:
I was rescued from a cat colony in Detroit where I was struggling to survive. I came here to this awesome rescue, and they realized I was actually a total sweetheart, calm, and playful girl who just needed a safe place to land.

Three words to describe me?
Calm, Social, and Super Duper Playful!

Despite my chill demeanor, I’m totally up for some fun whenever the wand toy appears—I’ll leap in the air like I’m back in the wild! I also adore catnip, sunbathing in a window, and a good long nap (especially snuggled up to another kitty). Want to see me line up for meal time? Offer me some yummy treats (I love Temptations!), and I’ll chirp and meow my way right to you. But I’m not a big fan of being picked up—I prefer leg brushes and belly rubs on my own terms, or if you happen to have something delicious in your hand.

As for my dream home:
I’d do best in a calm environment without dogs or younger kids. Older, gentle kids would probably be okay, as long as they respect my space. Most importantly, I’d *love* to have another feline friend to snuggle and mother. I’m currently best buddies with Alana—maybe you’ve heard of her? She and I can often be found snoozing together all of the time.

Don't let my FIV+ status give you pause. With the right dose of love, nourishment, and care, I can lead a fulfilling and lengthy life, just like any other kitty! FIV is specific to cats, and FIV+ cats can enjoy a lifespan comparable to their non-FIV counterparts. Properly introduced, FIV and non-FIV cats can coexist happily and healthily. The virus is delicate, surviving only briefly outside the body and requiring significant physical interaction, such as deep bite wounds, for transmission. Everyday social interactions like grooming, sharing food and water bowls, and using litter boxes pose no known risk of transmission. So, if you're ready for a loving and playful companion, I might just be the perfect match for you!

Are you ready for a calm, playful, and delightfully food-motivated kitty who wants nothing more than to snuggle with you (and maybe another cat or two)? I’d love to be your new best friend. Let’s make each other very happy!

Love,
Maise

Maise is about 3 years old. The adoption fee is $125 and covers spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, FIV/FeLV test and all basic wellness care such as deworming and flea preventatives.

Application Link:
https://form.jotform.com/242015163806045
