Maevyn the manx's Story

Sweet Maevyn the manx is a friendly girl and a true manx. She recently had kittens and two of the 4 were born without tails. She has an angular face so she may have some siamese in her as well.

She does not like to be picked up, but she will come and sit by you or in your lap. She is independent and doesn't like to listen all the time, she will not always come when called, but treats work wonders.

She gets along with kids and small dogs, but is scared of larger dogs. Gets along ok with other cats if they leave her alone.

Animal Preservation of East Texas (APET)'s Adoption Policy
We have potential adopters apply for the animal they are wishing to adopt. We try to have an indepth conversation about what kind of pet they are seeking, which ones would be the best fit for them, and do they have the necessary home environment for the animal they wish to adopt. If we feel they meet the criteria for the home, we then ask to be allowed to contact their vet to make sure any other animals on the home are spayed/nuetered and up to date on vaccines. If we have any doubts at all, we schedule a home visit. We go out to the adopter's home and check their fence, their home, and any other animals they own. All of their own animals must be spayed and neutered and up to date on vaccines or they are not allowed to adopt any of ours. If everything passes inspection, they adoption is allowed to proceed and they return to the shelter to pick up the animal. Most times however, just having a conversation is sufficient. We make a copy of their ID, we have them fill out the application, we go over the most important parts of the application that we feel they need to pay attention to, and we allow the adoption to proceed.
