He's affectionate, laidback, a little opinionated, and always happy to keep you company. If we allowed it, he would probably appoint himself the official Walmart greeter of the shelter. He likes people, likes attention, and seems to think everyone who walks through the door might have come specifically to see him.<br/><br/>He's also delightfully lazy. Maestro isn't looking to spend his days bouncing off the walls. Give him a comfortable place to lounge, some treats, a person to follow around, and regular affection, and he's pretty content with life. He's also a great little conversationalist, chiming in here and there without constantly demanding your attention.<br/><br/>Maestro originally came to us with an injured leg caused by an abscessed bite wound. During his treatment, he tested positive for FIV, or Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. His leg has long since healed, and he is healthy, happy, and ready to finally trade shelter life for a home of his own.<br/><br/>FIV affects a cat's immune system, but many FIV+ cats live long, healthy lives with routine veterinary care and indoor living. It is not contagious to people, dogs, or other species and is primarily spread between cats through deep bite wounds.<br/><br/>And Maestro? He gets along with other cats. He has even been completely unfazed by the dogs he has encountered at the shelter, making him a potentially great fit for a variety of homes with appropriate introductions.<br/><br/>After eight months, Maestro has become such a familiar presence here that it's hard to imagine the shelter without his tuxedo face following us around. But that's exactly what we want to have to do.<br/><br/>We want to miss him.<br/><br/>Maestro deserves to be someone's shadow at home instead of ours at the shelter.
