Mae's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Age: 2 years (FIV+)

Meet our petite little lady, Mae! At only 2 years old, we were alerted to Mae and her 2 ~ 3 month old kittens in Pennsylvania. Our foster immediately headed over to intake Mae and her little ones but before she arrived... someone stole Mae’s kittens and left her behind like she was nothing. Heartbreaking, huh? Therefore, we did what her kitten-nappers should’ve done: INTOOK Mae! Mae was sick upon arrival with a gnarly upper respiratory infection and terrible teeth. We quickly resolved all her problems with well deserved veterinary care. Mae is so docile and sweet. This girl doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. She’s quick to rub up against your hand for pets, or make a little thrill for attention. She doesn’t quite have playing down yet, which is typical for cats who were once on the street, but she’ll get there.

*Mae is FIV+, but don’t let that deter you! FIV is short for Feline Immunodeficiency virus. With having FIV, it weakens the cat’s immune system and there is sadly no cure for this. FIV can be transferred through the mother having FIV, mating and having kittens and the offspring potentially having FIV. Also FIV can spread through deep would transfer and saliva being transferred into the wound. FIV is most common in un-spayed males because they’re prone to fighting. However, despite the virus, it is not spreadable or harmful to other cats. FIV can NOT be spread through normal cat actives such as eating or drinking from the same bowls, using the same liter boxes, playing and other typical day to day cat activities.*

Apply to adopt Mae at ffrescue.org! Her adoption fee is $75.
