Madison's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.
Please review our Adoption Process before filling out an application. If you would like to try a Foster to Adopt trial, please fill out an Adoption Application.

If you are only interested in temporarily Fostering one of our rescues, please fill out a Foster Application.

Meet Madison!Update (10/8/25) from Madison's foster family:NOTE: Since this update from 10/8/25, we have been told that Madison has become a total lap cat and is super affectionate! Madison has become such a little cuddle bug! After 4 weeks in my care, she is my tiny shadow, following me everywhere and making the tiniest little squeaks whenever she wants attention or pets or food. She regularly joins me at my desk and will often sit on my lap for hours while I work. Even though she initially wasn't the most affectionate kitten, it's clear she LOVES love but just has to get to know you first. She's even warming up to new people and will now approach friends and family who visit me with curiosity (especially if they have a treat in hand). She's one of few cats I've met who actually seems to enjoy belly rubs (no, really!) and will regularly put her belly on full display to encourage the tummy scratches. She still loves to chase anything that moves so wand toys are a must with Madison, and while she did great with her foster brother Zeke, I think she'd thrive either with a buddy or solo. I absolutely adore her and know she will make someone's best friend and tiny partner in crime one day!!Original Rescue Story:Little Maddie has always been petite, always the smallest of her litter. Her litter consisted of 3 siblings. 2 males Vincent and Clay and Aurore sister. The litter of 4 was rescued from inside a car that was just stored in a drive way and a stray cat had a litter. When the cat owners contacted us for help to get the kittens we realized they were about 5 weeks old and terrible upper respitatory infection otherwise in great condition. Maddie has always been a pound behind and now that she is older and healthy she continue to be a pound behind making her a petite kitty compared to siblings. She is very silky smooth and grew up at casa de ARWOB from her rescue date in early May until early September. She grew up with her siblings and other foster kittens and cats. She is dog savvy and will be friends with cat friendly gentle dogs, if the dog is too much she will seek higher ground. She has always been a great gentle sweet girl. She will hide from strangers and it does take her time to warm up. She is NOT going to be the most affectionate and social butterfly ei carrier around or being petted but she does seek human companionship and she enjoys being petted with her purr motor recognizing and appreciating the love. She loves all kinds of toys especially wand feathered toys. As of early September she has gone into a new foster along with her foster brother Zeke an adorable orange buff taby. All kittens have been tested and felv/fiv negative. To meet and possibly adopt one or two of these cuties please submit an application online at ARWOB.org once received we will contact you to schedule a call to finish processing your application. If approved we can move fwd with scheduling a meet and greet and adoptions can happen same day of the meets. Animal Rescuers Without Borders,Inc.'s Adoption Policy
The A.R.W.O.B. group prides itself on carefully placing animals into responsible and loving homes. We care about the present and future lives of the many unwanted dogs and cats and strive to improve them so they can come to know stability, love and safety. For more information, please visit our website at www.arwob.org. Our adoption procedure is as follows: 1) Adoption Application filed by applicant (visit the applications page to fill one out!). We typically adopt dogs and cats to individuals or families located in San Diego County, Orange County and Los Angeles areas. However, we may consider potential adopters within California, Arizona, and Nevada (within a reasonable driving distance) under certain circumstances. We require that the application be approved ahead of time and a home check must be done via FaceTime Skype (we do not accept videos for this purpose). We would also require the potential adopter to come to San Diego to meet the animal in person and we recommend bringing any current pet(s) to see if they will get along. If the potential adopter opts out of the meet-n-greet with their existing animal(s) and if the new pet does not get along with their existing pets, we would require the adopter to drive back to San Diego to return the animal -- we cannot provide transportation. Our adoptions are time sensitive and our policy is that we do not place holds on any of our rescues. PLEASE NOTE: We have implemented a new policy for those who are currently serving in the military. IF YOU ARE IN THE MILITARY please fill out a short questionnaire in addition to the adoption application. 2) A play date between the applicant and rescue (dog or cat). An applicant MUST have an APPROVED online adoption application filed BEFORE scheduling a playdate at the animal's foster home. The playdate will ensure that the potential adopter and the dog/ cat they are interested in is the right match. If the dog/cat does not possess the qualities and behavioral traits the applicant is looking for, we can continue the adoption process by meeting another rescued dog or cat. You can also meet the animal you are interested in at scheduled adoption events. Approved applicants have priority to meet an animal over others. Please read the events page for more information about meeting an animal at an event and possibly taking them home afterward. 3) Home checks to ensure the safety of our rescues (If applicable). An ARWOB volunteer will contact you upon approval of your application (and the playdate appointment) to schedule a visit to your home. Here we will take a look at where the cat/dog will be living. Your home and yard must be safe and secure. 4) Adoption Contract and ID from applicant If everything checks out during the homecheck and we believe our rescued dog/ cat will live happily there, we will go ahead and sign the adoption contract to makes the adoption official. 5) Adoption fee Fees are different for both dogs and cats and are based on age and, sometimes, on the breed. Please visit the adoption fees page for a break down of all. 6) Denial of adoption applications We screen all of our adoption applications thoroughly in order to find the perfect home for our rescues. There may be times when we feel the adopter is not a good fit based on the answer to questions on their application. Please know that we vet each applicant with the animal's best interest in mind. In the event that your application is denied, you will receive an email letting you know of our decision. However, we will not be able to answer detailed questions regarding the denial.
