Madame's Story

Madame is a lovely senior girl who just wants to cuddle on the couch after a long day. The matriarch of a 10+ cat colony, she could no longer handle the NYC street life when we met her in July 2024.

Now she naps through most sounds, blissfully, but will always wake up and trot over when I open cans of her food or hears the treats pop open! She no longer has teeth, but that doesn’t stop her from chomping down these daily snacks with pride. She loves to follow her foster around while providing that latest neighborhood gossip gleaned from her window-side day naps. Though she isn't an agile hunter in her Golden Years, she does love to roll around on the carpet with her latest crinkly catnip toy.

Overall, Madame brings a warm, calm & loving energy to any home. She would make a lovely companion to a quiet home with only 1 or 2 people. Since she lived and loved many of her kitty friends outside, she would do well in a home with other cats, but seems to fair well as a solo too.

Due to her age, we opted to forego vaccinations. Though Madame has been diagnosed with a few low grade chronic health conditions, they are easily managed with proper diet & a low maintenance/cost medication. She is FIV/FeLV negative, spayed, microchipped, dewormed, deflea-ed & UTD on senior bloodwork.

Brooklyn Kitty Committee's Adoption Policy
Applicants are encouraged to complete an adoption application (linked on this page). Once reviewed, a member of our organization will schedule a virtual interview with ALL members of your household. Persons under 21 years are not eligible to adopt unless they are living in a family home and their guardian agrees to the adoption and co-signs their adoption agreement. If your application is approved, we will coordinate a meet & greet with the kitty/kitties of your choice (where appropriate). If you choose to move forward with one of these kitties and we agree that it is an appropriate fit, you will complete an adoption agreement and an adoption fee must be completed prior to finalizing adoption and providing all medical records to you. If you have another pet at home, a minimum 2 week foster-to-adopt period will be mandatory to ensure that the pets get along in your home. Adopters will complete a foster contract, which states that the cat/kitten is still under the guardianship of our organization until a formal adoption agreement has been completed.
