MacKinley's Story
This sweet little kitten was found orphaned and was rescued by a kind, Good Samaritan. MacKinley was named in honor of a local American hero, an American Veteran and warrior, Colonel Mac Dorsey, who lost his battle with cancer just days before this little girl was found. Mac was an avid animal lover and was always concerned with the welfare of others and we are honored to have his namesake in our midst.

MacKinley is that rare find, a female orange tabby. Statistically only 1 in 5 orange tabbies are female. MacKinley is what has been called an old soul. She is that perfect combination of confidence, spunk and sweetness. In her foster home the resident cats adopted her immediately. This is truly unusual because the resident female cats are not always a fan of the kittens that are brought into the home. She is fun, animated, and sassy. She would be a great addition to any loving home that is looking for a new family member. She has been raised with adult cats and small dog.

MacKinley has an extra special ability to walk with a little more joy, a little differently than some of the other kitties in her foster home,..she has better dance moves than any of them! She appears to be a little weak at her back end and her tail is a little shorter than some kitties, and sometimes it results in what to some may look like stumbling, or unsteadiness, but to those who see her unique perfection know that it is just an angelic gait, her special talent, that she was blessed with. This doesn’t stop her from doing everything all the other kitties can do, she just looks more precious doing it. Although tests have been run by the vet, there has been no definitive diagnosis of a problem, and this unsteadiness may be a result of something that happened in-vitro which is not reversible, but also doesn’t stand in her way of anything.

She most likely would not be an good fit with small children, but would thrive in an environment with a work from home companion, and other older kitties to cuddle with. She is not the run around the house and knock everything off the counter kitten, she is the in your lap, at your side, in your pocket kind of kitty, who enjoys her human companion a lot!

MacKinley, (aka Miss Emm or Miss Mary Mac), is a totally amazing bundle of perseverance and girl power, all amounting to one totally amazing MacKinley!

MacKinley – teaching us a great lesson in the beauty of seeing perfection for what it is and loving unconditionally - the amazing perfectly imperfect living being in front of you - in our furbabies, in our families, in our friends, and in the mirror … thank God our perfectly imperfect selves can fit right in.

All of our kitties are adoptable as indoor only. We require meet and greets for all potential adopters to visit with MacKinley prior to making arrangements for adoption. It is very important that we make sure that the kitten is a good fit for you and your family and that you are the best fit for MacKinley.
