Luna - Special Needs's Story

Luna and her sister Rain came to us from animal control, so we don't know much of their history. Rain is ready for a new home. However, Luna has been diagnosed with a heart murmur. Local veterinarians advised that she needs to have an echocardiogram to determine how severe the heart murmur is. We are trying to arrange an appointment (it is not easy to find a specialist for this), and it appears that the cost is going to be at least $900.

We are hoping for donations to offset this expense, so we can figure out what kind of future Luna is going to have. It could very well be a normal kitten future, or she may need special care the rest of her life. But without the appropriate tests, we just don't know what kind of home would be best for her. At this point it is not known if it is even safe to have her spayed.

If you are able to help, please go to our website and donate whatever you can - please note that it is for Luna. Anything we receive beyond what is needed for Luna will stay in the fund for cats and dogs that need specialized medical care.

UPDATE: Luna had her echocardiogram and ultrasound and she does have a hole in her heart. However, the vet says at this time it is not giving her any problems at this time. She will be spayed soon. She could live a long, active life, and it could close up as she grows, but there is a possibility that it could cause her problems in the future. They recommend another heart exam when she is about a year old. She is very social and affectionate and deserves a chance at a happy home.

Thank you for your support for Luna!
_________________
When adopted, all of our cats and kittens have been spayed/neutered and tested for FeLV/FIV. Their vaccinations are current, they have been treated for fleas and worms, they are ID microchipped, and they have had a wellness check by our veterinarian.

We offer a 20% discount if you decide you would like to double the fun and adopt two cats or kittens!

Our adoption process is usually by appointment only, but we are open to drop ins on Saturdays. If Saturdays don’t work for you, let us know! We are happy to arrange an appointment on other days of the week, or in the evening, if it will help you connect with your next best furry friend. If you are considering adopting, PLEASE COMPLETE AN ADOPTION APPLICATION PRIOR TO MAKING AN APPOINTMENT. This will help to make the process easier and faster.

If you are not sure of which cat or kitten you might want to select, just indicate 'adult cat' or 'kitten', or ‘undecided’.
