Luna's Story

Luna was surrendered to the Henderson County shelter along with her kitty housemate, Nellie, because their elderly owner could no longer care for them.

Luna was adopted from the shelter as a kitten and is ten and a half years old.

Luna is a quirky and laid back black shorthair. She likes to “talk” to you and just wants to be near her human. She just started thyroid medication (she’s an excellent pill taker!) and would benefit from monthly solensia injections for some arthritis but is otherwise healthy.

Although these two have lived together most of their lives, they do not need to be adopted together. There seems to be some bullying but it could likely be overcome if they had more space (they are currently together in one bedroom 24/7).

Adopters download and complete an adoption application from our website and email it back to info@lapsandnaps.org. After reviewing the application, either the director or the animal care coordinator calls the potential adopter and conducts a phone interview. A home visit is sometimes conducted and, if the adopter is approved, arrangements are made for the adopter to meet the cat (s)he is interested in adopting. If it's a good match, the adopter pays the adoption fee, signs an adoption contract, and the cat goes to its new home.
