Lucy's Story

Lucy is a wonderful 6 month old tabby female that came to us in the summer of 2024 after being found in rough shape. She was brought to our rescue after a caring family had found her after she had some kind of traumatic accident. She arrived with a broken rear leg, swollen front paw and the whole side of her face was swollen and sore. Our vet thought she possibly had been hit by a car or something of that nature. We nursed her back to health and provided her with excellent vet care, good food, and a lot of love and today she's thriving! She did not need an amputation and her back leg healed up nicely. Today she runs through the house, climbs ladders, jumps, and does everything a normal kitty can do. She is playful, affectionate, loves to cuddle, and is excellent with dogs and other cats.
During her treatment with our vet we discovered that Lucy is also FIV+. FIV is an immune deficiency disease in kitties that can be easily watched with the help of your veterinarian, and cats with FIV can live long and healthy lives. The best home for Lucy would be one where she is either the only cat or a home with other cats with FIV. Please let us know if you'd like to learn more about FIV and how to care for a special girl like Lucy!
If interested in adopting Lucy, please call us at 970-749-1968 or submit an adoption application at www.durangoanimalconnection.com/forms-adoption
