Lucy's Story

Meet Lucy — A Little Survivor Who Deserves a Fresh Start

Lucy is a 2-year-old domestic shorthair tabby who deserves a chance to finally know what it feels like to be safe, loved, and cared for.

Lucy's life didn't get off to an easy start. She came from a hoarding situation where she was never properly vetted and continually had kittens. When we first encountered her, Lucy was semi-feral and terrified of people. She would run and hide whenever someone approached. Trust was something she had never really known.

When we went to trap the cats from this home, Lucy was one of the many females who appeared to be pregnant. After finally trapping her, we brought her straight to Precious Paws. Sure enough, Lucy was pregnant, and in time, she gave birth to three beautiful babies.

Protecting her kittens was everything to Lucy. She was extremely defensive when anyone came near them, and honestly, who could blame her? She had spent her life fighting for food, trying to survive, and protecting herself and her babies. She didn't know we were there to help. All she knew was that she had to protect what mattered most to her.

With time, patience, and understanding, we were able to wean Lucy's babies and move her into a kennel of her own. She was finally able to be spayed, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her life.

And slowly, we're seeing a different side of Lucy.

She is beginning to let us pet her. She greets us in the mornings when it's time for breakfast, and while we clean her kennel, she watches our every move with those curious little eyes. She's learning that people can bring good things into her life and that she no longer has to spend every moment in survival mode.

Lucy isn't particularly fond of other cats right now, and honestly, after everything she's been through, we think she may just be ready to have a space of her own!

We believe Lucy would make a wonderful roommate and companion for someone who simply wants a little company. She may not be the cat who immediately jumps into your lap, but we can picture her future. We can picture her eventually curling up at the end of your bed, settling in beside you on the couch, or keeping you company while you go about your day. Sometimes, the sweetest companionship comes from a cat who learns to love you in her own time.

The truth is, Lucy doesn't know what a real home life is supposed to feel like. She spent her time going in and out of a home filled with the overwhelming smell of urine and feces. She's never truly had the chance to experience the comforts that so many cats take for granted.

A soft bed. A sunny window to watch the birds. A cozy place to nap. Someone who talks to her throughout the day. A home where she never has to worry about where her next meal will come from or whether she needs to protect herself.

She deserves the chance to finally be the cat she should have been from the very beginning.

Could you be the person who gives Lucy that chance?

If you're interested in giving Lucy the safe and loving home she deserves, please submit an adoption application through our website at www.pphsc.com.

Lucy is spayed, microchipped and vaccinated.
