Lucy's Story

Lucy is a beautiful light orange mama kitty. She came to us with 4 older kittens from her first litter PLUS she was pregnant. She gave birth to 5 more kittens, all successfully. Her mama journey ends here though. Once she has weaned the last kitten, she will be spayed and free to have a wonderful life without the burden of pregnancy and mama hood.

Lucy is quite protective. She is protective of her kittens and is leary at first of new people. She takes her time to warm up but once she is comfortable, she is very affectionate and will head bump you to get more pets.

Lucy will be spayed soon. She is up to date on her vaccines and flea/tick preventatives. She has been feline leukemia/FIV tested and is negative.

We do not know how she would do with dogs - this is something we have not tested. She will often lay in the windowsill enjoying the warmth of the sun.

Duke Memorial~Redwood Area Animal Shelter's Adoption Policy
We have simplified our animal adoption process to ensure that the process is not only easy on you but our animals. It is important that we ensure that is a great fit for not just you but also for the animal. 1. Meet & Greet. Come and meet our animals. We have so many wonderful and loving animals. We encourage you to find someone who complements your lifestyle and you/your family. 2. Fill out an application. Check out our website for our digital application: https://www.redwoodareaanimalshelter.org/ OR you can fill out an application in person during our open hours of operation (Monday - Friday, 1p - 5p). 3. Approval: we will look over your application and may ask questions if need be to ensure a great fit! We follow a 'same day' adoption process - no need for any additional checks, visits or etc. Please keep in mind: it is always our top priority to place animals in great homes. We reserve the right to decline an applicant if we feel this is not a great fit. 4. Pay Adoption Fee: adoption fees are based on the age, breed and medical care received by the animal. Adoption fees may change without notice however the applicant will be notified if there is a change in the fee. We accept the following payment methods: cash, check and all major debit/credit cards. Credit/Debit card transactions are subject to a 4% credit card processing fee. Please note: ALL ADOPTION FEES are final. There are no refunds. 5. Go Home: if you plan to do a 'same day' adoption, adopters are required to bring a collar & leash (for dog adoptions) and/or cat carrier for (cat adoptions). 6. Live happily ever after: this is the end goal, of course! All adoptions are final - meaning please be certain that you have properly prepared your home, your family and your lifestyle to add in another pet. Rescue animals often need time to decompress and adjust to a new surrounding - please be patient and have grace.
