Lou's Story
Lou 💚
Lou was brought to us a few months ago and has really shown us how much he loves attention and cuddles. He will wait patiently for anyone to pass his condo so he can get some love. When he arrived to the shelter, we noticed he kept sneezing and had some respiratory flare ups - and found out it is most likely Feline Herpes Virus. That being said, he would need to be the only cat in the house to prevent exposure.
Some facts about this virus:
-FHV only affects cats and cannot be transferred to people or dogs
-It is not curable but is manageable with supportive care and reducing stress to the cat
-Most cats with FHV will live normal life spans
Even in his flare ups, Lou has so much love to give and would do anything to be able to rest in the comfort of a home instead of a shelter. When he is not cuddling you, he absolutely loves to play with cat toys and has a funny side to him. Lou is around 3-4 years old. To meet him, please fill out an application on www.southerntieranimalcontrol.org and we will reach out to set up a meet and greet!
